This is the beginning of Project Levitation. It’s a little trick that has been done a lot in photography, but I am just beginning my journey through mid-air. I hope you enjoy the stories I tell with each photo. Maybe it will inspire your own project…

These are pictures from our first official family day at the beach in Charleston! We drove to Isle of Palms and spent a wonderful afternoon on this gorgeous beach. Liam was just in heaven. The water was a little cold but he had a blast chasing birds and filling buckets with water. Our friends met us and made it even better.
I was watching Liam run around by the waves and though how lucky he is. This is what he is going to grow up knowing as home.
Love
Charleston is AWESOME! We are super excited about our move south. The weather has been gorgeous, we have palm trees outside our windows and you can fetch yourself a dozen oysters just a few minutes away on the BEACH. Sorry, I’m bragging:) Here are some photos of our neighborhood and the Charleston Aquarium. We have been having a blast discovering the area. Much more to come!
My wonderful husband got me a few photography sessions with the very established and successful Clay Patrick McBride. He taught me a LOT about using artificial lighting, which is brand new and scary to me.
Clay showed me how accessible light gear actually is, and how a few tricks can create a stunning and interesting image. Two lights, a color gel, a speed light and a smoke machine can transform a space incredibly and make for some amazing images. Lucky me I get to sit in on Clay’s class at the School of Visual Arts tonight and take in even more genius. This has sparked my creativity!

I must say, I get a little nervous before I photograph a large family. There are a lot of personalities to work with and you never know how kids are going to cooperate. This family was AWESOME! They were warm, welcoming, kept offering me food, and the father even got his own camera out and was asking me for pointers. So cute. The kids were WONDERFUL, so beautiful to photograph and smiley! The parents/grandparents were celebrating a big anniversary and one of the sons and his wife just found out they are expecting. This was a great way to bring everyone together and document a wonderful time in their lives.
One of the biggest issues a photographer can face is how couples interact with each other. It’s hard to be on the other side of the lens and I definitely do not envy my subjects. Some people are just awkward and need more direction. I barely had to say two words in the way of direction to anyone! The couples were loving, smiling, made eye contact and moved really well with each other. It was such a blessing and so great to photograph- makes a big difference!
Hope you enjoy these photos and much as I enjoyed capturing them!
I had a wonderful time photographing this growing family in Park Slope Brooklyn. Little Jack was only a few weeks old and already so alert and wide awake. It’s not hard to photograph such a great looking family! And it didn’t hurt that their little girl was bubbly and happy the whole time as well.
This is just amazing…
Anna Schuleit installed thousands of flowers in the Massachusetts Mental Health Center to commemorate its life, history, and people over the 91 years of its operation.
Here is today’s Inspirational Photo of the Day! This is Liam and my husband and there are countless things that I love about this photo. I love Liam’s little hand on his daddy’s face, his bed head, and I especially love that their eyes are open and they are looking at each other. Photographers live to catch these types of precious moments. Enjoy the day!
Christmas 2007, we were so hottt (Taken with instagram)
Happy Monday! It’s Inspirational Photo Day. These are pictures of my wonderful Uncle Pat and Aunt Lynda at their home on the lake in Syracuse, NY. Liam is only about two months here (now he’s almost 2 years!). Gotta give some love to the family. Their home is really beautiful and relaxing. It’s painted in the colors of the sea and there are terra cotta pots of herbs on their outdoor steps. It’s a very special little haven and we have had many good times there. Wonderful source of inspiration and love.
This. Was. Amazing. I have always wanted to photograph fighters and I finally, out of dumb luck, got the chance. My husband and son and I headed way the heck up to Messina, NY where an amateur boxing tournament was being held at the Three Feathers Casino. I had the pleasure of being almost in the ring with these guys AND girls as they punched it out. The bes part was the intensity in their faces and the sweat spray. I was a little nervous about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it all worked out. Very cool experience.
thenunchix asked: what camera do you shoot with?
Hey lady- a Canon 5d Mark ii with the f 2.8 24-70mm zoom- yup, steppin up in the world:)
Just in case you haven’t seen enough pictures of Liam, here are more:) I can’t help it, I’m so in love with this kid. I love having lazy days where I let him stay in his PJs and dump all his toys on the floor. I’m especially in love with his teepee- gonna build him a real one some day soon!
I had the pleasure of photographing Luba while she was pregnant, at her baby shower and now at home with her first baby, Joseph. It really is amazing to look back at the incredible journey from belly to baby! Luba, Buck, and baby Joseph make one beautiful family, full of love. This is one of the best parts of my job:)
It’s difficult to find new and exciting things to do during the winter- especially in Brooklyn. We got lucky when we decided to trek to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. There was hardly anyone there and a lot of indoor activities. Liam was a lot less excited about this than his aquarium adventure but we still had a great time! It was a first for me and we hope to go back when the outdoor grounds are in full bloom. We had an awesome day here.
